Dear Parents,
We hope you all had an enjoyable summer break and we look forward to working together for the coming school year.
We welcome back all our pupils and especially welcome our new Junior Infants;
Fionn Nolan, Eddie Alix, Caela Mae Curtin and Molly McConnell and we also welcome Allie Moloney who has joined 3rd class this year in Barna NS.
Please note the following items:
- Staff 2017/2018: Ms Sandra O’ Dwyer 3rd – 6th Ms Fletcher Junior Infants – 2nd class. Special Education Teacher (SET) Ms Tracey Ryan & newly appointed SET: Ms Anne-Marie Corcoran.
- Should you wish to discuss any matter with your child’s teacher during the year, an appointment can be made by ringing the office (061) 384481 or email barnaschoolpallasgreen@gmail.com
- School begins at 9am. Children should arrive on time for school and should be collected punctually from school at home time. Pupils can be dropped to school from 8.50am. The school bears no responsibility for pupils dropped before this time.
- All absences from school must be accounted for by a note from parent once pupil has returned to school. Templates are available in the back of the homework journals 1st – 6th A simple note will do Junior and senior infants stating child’s name, date of absence and parent signature.
- For the safety of all our pupils we ask that parents collect their children at the school gate at home time.
- We are a Health Promoting School and encourage healthy lunches. We have an extra “Fruit Break” at 10am each morning and an extra Activity break on Fridays. (For the younger children, please have fruit break prepared if necessary eg chopped, peeled etc in small container.)
- PE day will be on Fridays, starting next week. On PE day, pupils wear their navy tracksuit and runners. Please Note: The PE Day may change from time to time depending on availability of School GAA coaches, Swimming lessons, etc. Notice will be given in advance.
- Staff Meeting: School will close on Thursday 14th September at 1.40pm for staff meeting. (Junior Infants 12.15pm)
- This year we hope to send school newsletters and other correspondence by email, as well as being available on the school website barnans.com. Details to follow.
- Parent/Teacher meetings will be held in the school over three days on 14th, 15th,16th November. Details of your day and time will be arranged in the coming weeks.
